![]() Out of all the FMCs Ruby has written in this universe, Rosalind might be the most relatable. Yet, I’m so happy with Rosalind, she’s the perfect mate for R’jaal. But then the huge twist ending to Flor’s book happened and…now I don’t feel so smug. For the longest time I had a theory R’jaal and Tia would get together, so when they were the last two left to not resonate I felt so smug. I’m happy to report you do NOT need to read any of the “Corsairs Brothers” books in order to understand the events of R’jaal’s book however, you definitely need to read all the books in IPB and IH. I follow Ruby on Facebook and knew about “Corsairs: Mathiras” being continually updated, and I also knew the ending of the book would play a significant role in R’jaal’s book. ![]() While I’m up-to-date on all the IPB and IH books, I haven’t read the “Corsairs Brothers” series. Reading about Not-Hoth in new Ruby Dixon books feels like returning home (even though I’d never survive in such a harsh environment). Both series have such a special place in my heart they’re my number one comfort reads. I’m totally elated I get to experience a new Ruby Dixon series in the “Ice Planet Barbarians” universe! I binged all the IPB books at the end of 2021 and going into 2022, then promptly moved on to the adjacent “Ice Home” series. I know I’m a little vague with the description above, but I truly don’t want to spoil any aspect of the plot it’s a wild ride from start to finish. Can Rosalind and R’jaal escape their prison before she succumbs to the toxic atmosphere of the planet? ![]() Rosalind does not have a khui, and R’jaal has just resonated with her. His situation is further complicated by his cellmate, Rosalind. Underground and isolated from his tribe, R’jaal must find a way out. Immediately following the events of “Flor’s Fiasco”, R’jaal finds himself imprisoned in a strange cell. ![]() “He smiles at me as if this is all he’s ever wanted, and he’s so handsome and affectionate that I wonder what’s wrong with the women here that they weren’t climbing him the moment he opened his mouth.” I just want to read this universe until I die, okay? Outside of the main couple, I love how well Ruby balanced the transition of one series to another while not letting the new details overshadow the couple at hand! There were so many new things to get excited about for the future that we saw in this book, but it never took away from the sweet, sweet satisfaction of finally seeing precious baby R'Jaal (with a surprisingly dirty mouth (praise, Ruby)) get his happily ever after. (THANK GOD.) There was that staple translation error human between sweet baby R'Jaal and Rosalind (poor babies will just never understand slang) and the romance that blossomed between them was so sweet and scorching hot. Rosalind was everything R'Jaal needed, and R'Jaal is the definition of "it's always the quiet ones". It was a long wait, but boy was it worth it. (Not really, because Ruby is a romance machine and delivers good food at a steady basis, but I digress.)įrom the moment we met R'Jaal on the island and saw him making sad eyes because Marisol didn't resonate to him-I knew I was not going to get any rest until I saw him get happiness.
